Dog grooming can be anything you want it to be, a full time exciting career that will take you around the country competing in dog grooming shows, learning new skills and evolving to be the best you can be, working with a team within a commercial salon, also flexibility as much or as little as you like, working from home, around your commitments. This is especially great for parents, people wanting to slow down or around a part time job to boost your income.
Depending on your situation there are many options for setting up a salon from home, converting a garage or log cabin, utility room or other and you also can have ready made salons delivered to your garden. Or you might want to go mobile, from a ready made grooming van or trailer, or simply groom from clients homes, with a mobile trolley table.
We are happy to help you decide which is the best way for you if you have not already chosen, we can advise on equipment, salon set up, and on our dog grooming course you will learn how to run and manage a safe successful business. We only take a maximum of 3-4 students per day between a tutor and an assistant, We are very flexible with our training, we can work around your lifestyle offering one to four days per week, full days or half days. Our dog grooming courses are quality assured by Summit Groomer Training Group and well structured following structured course plan and criteria. We will provide you with full practical training and homework support, help build your confidence and hold your hand through the whole enjoyable journey.
I am Sue the Owner of Woodland Paws, I am a fully qualified City & Guilds Tutor & Assessor, with over 5 years tutoring and 10 years industry experience. I originally trained at a school just like ours, changing a 12 year office career, so I understand what a big step it is, and am happy to ease your mind with any questions and passing on as much knowledge and experience as I can. I have a passion for learning and teaching and improving my skills, so I can pass this on to my students . We are very proud and passionate at Woodland Paws about creating excellent & kind dog groomers, that will help raise the standards of this industry and welfare of all pet grooms.
City & Guilds Level 2 is a professional Assistant Groomer qualification and is the prerequisite qualification to the Level 3 Diploma. Our Professional groomer course will teach you how to groom to a high commercial standard, This course covers Animal welfare, safe handling, Preparing a dog for styling, clipping, scissoring, blending and pet breed styling. We cover all you need to know about the industry regulations and setting up your own business. This course will give you the opportunity to start your grooming career, with a recognised qualification, It will give you a head start and prepare you for your Level 3 Diploma, should you wish to take that in the future.
